I’m an Extremist, She’s an Extremist, Wouldn’t You Like To Be an Extremist too??

Posted by shamelesslyred on May 7, 2009

Disclaimer:
I’m not a Bush supporter. I’m not a Republican.
I am a Libertarian, a strict Constitutionalist, and a Blogger for Liberty.

Remember the days when us wing nuts told you that the Obama administration would be worse than the Bush era? I’m an equal opportunity basher when it comes to the NO common sense policies that interrupt the common good of all my American fellow citizens. I have no issue beating a dead horse, especially if I think it still contains a wisp of life, a last breath, or postmortem flatulence, I don’t care. (PETA, don’t mail me). All you people who voted for Obama, did so without any record to point to that said he was the man for the job. Not only has he gaffed in ways that would’ve made Bush blush, and would’ve had blood shooting out of the eyes of liberals back in the Bush days of old–his worst gaff yet was appointing a Homeland Security Secretary who thinks that labeling all Americans, including veterans as extremists and potential terrorists is appropriate.

Meet Janet Napolitano.

She is so PC that the government is no longer “allowed” to call Islamic Terrorists, “terrorists”. The correct term under the Obama administration to describe actual terrorists are “man made disasters”. That is of course, unless you’re an American, then you may be labeled a terrorist, and that is my friends, politically correct under the Obama list of common sense protocol. According to the “”Domestic Extremism Lexicon” you are an extremist. YES YOU. I will exclude you of course if you are comatose, a droid, a mannequin, or if you’re effectively brain dead. Otherwise, you will fall into one of the categories below

In my best Red Neck twang, I submit to you by a preponderance of proof provided by PC Janet Napolitano

You Might be an extremist if :

  • You listen to or read alternative media sources that portray significant events differently than that of the mass media outlets.
  • you are anti-illegal immigration
  • you are a Cuban and /or anti Castro ( of cuba? ya know, a communist government?)
  • you and your friends are individuals who pursue shared ideological goals (to be fair the rest says—->through tactics of leaderless resistance independent of any larger terrorist organization (can anyone say Bill Ayers? Tony Rezko?)
  • you believe in civil disobedience to change laws ( can anyone say Martin Luther King?) or you protest (dang tea bagging protesting rednecks! Gahh!)
  • you oppose most federal and state laws, regulations, and authority, particularly firearms laws and regulations.
  • you are a  Christian patriot, or are affiliated with  patriot groups, or Constitutionalists
  • you’re a Christian who believes that following God is above all and refuse to follow all other government laws that may compromise your faith
  • you believe the tax code is the equivalent to theft

Notice two things when you investigate the link to this latest proud display of our tax dollars at work. 1) Your government does not want you to know that they are profiling you. The warning states : It contains information that may be exempt from public release under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552). It is to be controlled, stored, handled, transmitted, distributed, and disposed of in accordance with DHS policy relating to FOUO information and is not to be released to the public, the media, or other personnel who do not have a valid need-to-know without prior approval of an authorized DHS official. State and local homeland security officials may share this document with authorized security personnel without further approval from DHS. (so much for the Obama promise of transparency)

and notice how I didn’t say “I told you so!!”

Swine flu-some natural things you can do

Posted by crunchymountainmomma on April 27, 2009

I don’t panic too often, and I’m not panicking now. I’m mildly furious that the current administration is choosing just NOW to treat this as a pandemic and Janet Napolitano is still choosing to be passive on border crossings. We should have stopped border crossings the minute we knew this was a new breed of influenza-it’s a cross between swine, bird and human and apparently there is no natural immunity to it. So, I’m preparing my family for the possibility of this flu.

If you suspect you have this flu and choose to go to your doctor-do NOT just go to the doctor. Call ahead. They can usher you directly to a room, in order to not infect others around you.

Do wash your hands often. I’m not particularly fond of the soaps with all the anti-bacterials. A good old fashioned soap works well. Make sure you don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth a lot after being in public.

Nutritionally-eat well. Make sure to get the proper foods, such as vegetables, fruits, good fibers(rices, cruciferous vegetables) and plenty of water.

Herbally, you can start now to boost your imunity. Add a good vitamin C to your daily regime. 1000 mg can’t hurt. Keep zinc on hand, in case you suspect you are infected. Vitamin D is a wonderful immune booster, so get some good sunshine now.

Elder berry extracts are incredible at stopping a flu in it’s tracks. A tea is also effective. The flowers induce fever. Licorice root is also an effective immune builder and good for building your body back up during an illness. Astragalus root will help build resistance to illness and disease. Garlic is a very effective antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal.
When we are ill here, we use 1/3 a cup elder berry and put it in a quart jar and fill it to the brim with vodka and let it soak for 5 days. If you can’t wait to make your own, there are many good extracts available for purchase at many health food stores. We also mince an entire head of garlic and place it in a pint jar and then cover it with unpasturized honey and let it sit overnight, then use a tablespoon 3 or 4 times a day. If you are sick, make sure you drink plenty of water and herbal teas. Forego juices, as they often have sugars added. Sugar will lower your white blood cells by 50% and up to 4 hours, making it much harder for your body to kick the bug. A good echinacea tincture taken every two hours will help. A good tea for coughing is 1 tablespoon of peppermint, 1 tsp thyme and 1/8 a tsp cayenne pepper, steeped for 15 minutes and sweetend with honey. Chamomile is antibacterial also, and the steam makes a good effective steam in cases of sinus congestion.

Eat light foods, things that are easier to digest. Your body wants to concentrate on healing, not food digestion. A light chicken soup, made from scratch if you can, and a lot of garlic added is a wonderful comfort food. Rice cooked with a small amount of butter, chicken broth and garlic is good for sustenance.

The most important thing is to rest, stay hydrated and keep your lungs in good working order. This flu seems to strike the lungs hardest. It causes the airways to swell. Rest is essential to healing. Your body needs time to heal. Stay home from work. Please, dont’ take Niquil and head off to work. Niquil makes you feel greaet, but it really only masks the symptoms and actually prolongs your illness, and also allows you to expose other people to the germs.

Tamiflu is showing effectiveness in treatment, if it’s caught early and if you make that choice.

And please, call your Senators and Congressmen. Tell them to shut our borders. Tell them to stop the influx of illegal immigrants that are sharing these diseases with us.

Stay healthy!

Bend US Over– Yes You Can!

Posted by shamelesslyred on April 25, 2009

I’m inwardly cursing my A** off.  No that’s a lie. I’m sitting here at my desk cursing quietly (lest my 4 yr old hear me) at the total CRAP of the Bush look alike that is now “ruling” Washington– except he wears a mask, and puts on a real good show, not to mention that with a teleprompter he does sort of a have a hypnotic effect on the masses.

Did you think the Patriot Act was a horrendous piece of legislation? Did you get the fact that the Bush administration demanded your liberties surrendered all in the name of security? The rationale-unspoken as it were- was that because “terrorists” hated our freedom, that we were supposed to give up many freedoms so that we would be safer–stupid! Bush said our Constitution was just a God damned piece of paper–endearing him to many patriots of this great nation, I’m sure. Did you buy the nonsense? Were you in agreement with the Bush-Cheney ditto heads who said that if you didn’t agree with a bill with the word “patriot” in it, why, you must not be a patriot at all??  Or were you an American that claims the true definition of a patriot is one that resists government oppression of the people?

Now enter the Obama nation, and it’s own ugly version of constitutional ass wiping. If taxation without representation (bailouts) is not enough, How about mandatory national service-(why, I must be against serving my community and my nation )  Now, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has asked Congress Tuesday to give the White House unprecedented powers to seize large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds, leaping beyond its present authority to seize only banks.

Yeah, they want to seize whatever business they deem a “risk”. Now, if you take into account the AIG loopholes that were purposely allowed by the administration, then bring on the fake outrage that was meant to make the public think that the Administration had no idea, ( of course not! ) then you add a layer of paranoia that our economy will go belly up unless the government is playing the role of Superman who will save us all, then what you have is a total recipe for the government to take and spend whatever they want, when they want, and all you and I have to do is agree. Stay silent. It’s Obama mimicking Bush tactics all over again, in that we need a savior in the form of a liberty shredding law if we are to survive and thrive! It seems to work. It almost begs the conspiratorial part of my brain (that I have to beat off with a stick these days) that the AIG bonuses were allowed, in order to flame the public fury that screamed for our chosen leader to protect us from big bad businesses as Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has now  proposed. It was the perfect set up. The perfect storm created by a new administration with a big plan for America.

Does anyone recall the word socialism that made conservatives like Palin and Joe the plumber public enemy # 1, evidenced only by the attack dog mentality of the media? You know, the same media that had a slobbering love affair with a candidate who said there were 57 states? Hypocrisy.
Oh, the television set every day wooed you, and told you how wonderful Barack Obama was. He preached hope and change. Yummy for hope and change!  Like mindless zombies, people, in a celebrity love affair chose him, despite his record as Senator. Some fainted each time he opened his mouth. Then the Bush regime changed hands. Americans voted for the more likable one, not the more credentialed candidate.

Even though I feel like a parent at this moment wanting to sarcastically yell ” I told you so”, I do understand that the resounding approval of Obama was more of a reprimand of Bush. NO MORE BUSH was the mentality of most people. I understand that totally, as it was my mentality too.
The reality is however, in 60 days he’s made history by spending more than any other sitting president, creating more debt beyond your wildest imagination, that will be left for your offspring, and theirs for generations to come.
I could go on with the many Clinton/ Bush masks that Obama puts on as often as I change my underwear, but I won’t. I will leave you with just one more obvious reality. Are you sitting down? The Obama White House is no different than the Bush White House. With unprecedented powers sought (like Bush) he wants to take over any, maybe every, business in this country. The banks were just not enough apparently. Is this Socialism?  No, we just made the leap to Fascism.
If any of you are still in the “Obama Yes We Can” stage of some silly crush for our first bi-racial President, then wake up, get a grip and start acting like Americans who will defend your Constitution, your childrens future, and the future of America!!

Now go ahead, and be the ultimate hypocrite and say that because my head is not buried in my rectal orifice, or his, that I must be a racist, or worse (almost) that I’m just mad because he won.

a sustainable future

Posted by crunchymountainmomma on April 24, 2009

I spent a wonderful day in the Wyoming sunshine with my husband and children yesterday. A dear friend had joined us for the afternoon, to make pickles with my children and to help us lay out our garden.

We laughed with delight and bewildered amusement as the children helped place soaker hose and played tug of war with us, tromp through the clods of warm and moist dirt, and look for worms. We watched them examine bugs and hay mulch with intent. They asked silly questions, they asked serious questions. The entire day was filled with fun and learning. I was content in the warm spring sunshine.

My friend wondered abut the schoolwork we were missing. I pointed the the children laying on a piece of black plastic, meant for tomatoes, being “bricks” to keep the plastic from blowing away in the heavy Wyoming spring wind and I said “They are learning right now.”  She replied “Oh I know. But what about book work? Don’t they have workbooks to do and all that?” I pondered this for a minute and wondered about the image of homeschooling running through her head. she’s known us a long time, she knows we homeschool, so the question seemed odd to me.

“Cat, think about the last time you encountered your average public schooled person. When was it?”

“Last week-I taught a class on gardens at the University.”

“What did they know about gardening?”

“Not very much at all!”

“Did you consider them to be intelligent?”

“Of course they were intelligent. They were an honor student at the college level.”

“Yet they couldn’t grow their own food. How many calls have you gotten through this recession, from people asking you to teach them about garden, show to lay them out, how to plant seeds, when to plant things?”

“At least 3 a day in the last 6 months alone. A lot of people are worried about their food supply, but don’t know how to plant a garden, how to mulch, what to do about weed control, or how to harvest and preserve things.”

“Yet every time we see you, you work with my children and myself to teach us these things. Who’s got the better education? The person with workbooks or the child digging her toes into the soft, freshly turned earth, savoring the feel of success as she’s planted her first salsa garden?”

Cat stopped and thought about this and turned to me with a look of amazement on her face.

“A sustainable future starts with our children, doesn’t it?” she mused.

“A sustainable future starts with education that is tangible.” I replied.  “And we are giving my children that tangibility right here. When everything collapses, my children will be the ones to come out on top, because they are free from the constraints of the classrooms walls. They learn by living life and seeing success or failure. They run with the success and they learn from the failure.  Education doesn’t come from a book necessarily and tests don’t always prove what a person knows or doens’t know.”

We sat and watched the children plan where to put their garden and I pondered further our nation’s future. We’ve created so many people dependent on products imported, grown in foreign nations, built in a factory somewhere thousands of miles away and we don’t know how to do too many things for ourselves. I can’t help but wonder where our success will lie in the future.  What do we consider to be sustainable now? Is it the person who can wisely shop for prepackaged foods, or the person who can create their meal from foods grown in the garden in their back yard and preserved against the cold winter weather?

I’m content to spend the day with my children-the sustainable future being planted by their very capable hands.

The Right To Raise Your Child

Posted by Wendi T. on February 6, 2009

Parents in America take for granted that they have the right to raise their child as they see fit.  Except in cases of severe, proved abuse or neglect, the government does not interfere.  In those cases where it does, local government agencies work to protect the child while at the same time providing ample opportunity for the parent to regain or maintain parenting control.

That could change, if the United Nations Children’s Rights treaty is signed by President Barack Obama.  It was brought to the table during the Clinton administration, and defeated, though narrowly.  It’s back.

If passed, the treaty would ban homeschool and private school options, require sex and drug education without the parental right to opt their child out, give children the right to challenge any parenting decision in court, forbid parents from deciding their child’s religion or religious observances, make all forms of corporal punishment illegal, prevent minors under the age of 18 from being tried as adults under any circumstances, allow minors to obtain birth control and/or abortions without parental notification or consent, and give ultimate authority over any parenting decisions to the UN.

Christians aren’t the only ones affected by this!  Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Budhists, Wiccans, Agnostics, Atheists, and everyone that I left out – your faith is being threatened too.  You would be forbidden under this treaty to raise your child according to your faith – whatever it happens to be.  If your child doesn’t want to attend religious observances, s/he can take you to court and allow the United Nations to decide if doing so is in “the best interest of the child” or not.

This is the ultimate issue of sovereignty.  Hitler knew that the way to control a country completely was to teach the children according to the nazi doctrines.  The Hitler Youth Organization was a testament to the success of this theory.  The United Nations is now taking this concept to a global level, removing all parenting authority from parents and placing it in the hands of a single world-wide governing body.

Interestingly, the treaty says nothing of parental responsibility.  Presumably, parents would still be responsible for decisions made by their minor children – even if they have no authority to control such decisions.

Who should bear the ultimate responsibility for raising a child – the parents, or the government?
